Questions and answers

We have collected here a selection of the questions and answers we often encounter in the course of our dialogue with clients.

What is Interim Management?
Interim Management is temporary management, which resolves either an acute or planned assignment in a business - often within a short period.

Who are our Interim Managers and Project Leaders?
They are experienced leaders and consultants having focus on resolving assignments, who have a proven track record of success. They are active as independent Interim Managers and not seeking career positions in the traditional sense.

When might there be the need for an Interim Manager?
The need and desire for an Interim Manager or project leader may arise for various reasons:

Which level do Interim Managers and Project Leaders work at?
They act at all management levels - from management to operations chiefs and project leaders.

Doesn’t the Interim Manager or Project Leader need to have worked in the company for several weeks to obtain sufficient insight to tackle the assignment?
Our Managers are selected and qualified for the completion of precisely your assignment based upon the experiences and competencies the person in question has brought to the assignment from similar businesses and situations.

Is an Interim Manager or Project Leader more expensive than a permanently employed leader?
You will pay an agreed-upon honorarium per day or month, which is inclusive of all the normal financial obligations an employer is responsible for with regards to an employee, apart from travel expenses in connection with completion of the job. If one compares the gross expenses for a permanent leader in a comparable position with the honorarium for an Interim Manager, the additional expense amounts to only 25%. However, in this case, there are neither expenses for recruiting nor outplacement.

How can I know I am getting the right person for the job?
We will always, as a minimum, present two carefully selected and qualified candidates for your consideration for completing the assignment. You can be confident beforehand that the candidates have been interviewed and confidentially briefed on the assignment, and that they often have completed comparable assignments for us. We have assessed and chosen all the candidates on the background of their experience, competence and references. There is also the possibility to review the candidates references.

How will my organization perceive getting a temporary manager?
Our experience shows that Interim Managers and Project Leaders are received extremely well, first and foremost because of their vast competence, but also because they are neither emotionally involved nor party to the political environment of the business. Moreover, the fact that they are there on a time-limited basis also facilitates their acceptance.

If Interim Managers and Project Leaders are so good, why haven’t they been tempted to take a permanent career position?
Our candidates are independent managers who have intentionally chosen to be Interim Managers and project leaders. They desire being focused on the completion of various assignments, while at the same time reaping the benefits of the accompanying flexibility and personal development.

What if I wish to initiate an employment contract with an Interim Manager or Project Leader?
It occurs occasionally that the client and our managers, after a time, wish to continue working together via a permanent employment agreement. We have nothing against this as it is always the client’s needs we are focused upon. However, we do require a modest honorarium when the interim period has elapsed and the candidate has changed over to a permanent-employment basis.

What happens when the assignment is completed?
When the contract has expired, there are no additional expenses. We do, though, occasionally see, afterwards, the desire expressed by some clients that they would like to keep the manager attached on an ad hoc basis to follow up on the continued development of the project. In these situations we draw up a supplementary agreement.

What if the candidate doesn’t live up to the expectations that were laid out?
It happens extremely seldom, and we have only experienced this once in all the years we have worked with Interim Management. To address such a situation, there is a builtin guarantee in the agreement, which ensures the client that we will provide a new, qualified candidate expense-free.

Is there any follow up on the candidates you have placed?
Nextt Management has an established procedure whereby status meetings are held throughout the course of the assignment that ensure it is being completed satisfactorily, and that the candidate is confident and making progress with the task. The candidate will always have Nextt Management as a confidential backup in any situation where doubt has arisen.

What is the difference between Interim Management and Management Consultants?
Consultants advise and offer recommendations. Interim Managers advise, offer recommendations, and implement them themselves. They are hands-on leaders, “put into the game” to carry out a concrete task.
